CASTING CALL FOR NEW TFE FEATURE!
Hopefully you have been enjoying the TFE Podcast, a new media approach
to building the community spirit among TFE players. Past episodes have
included both in-character and out-of-character segments. As
participation grows, we fully expect to have ever more varied and
entertaining content.
Currently, TFE Podcast is looking to include an IN CHARACTER piece, and
we need voice actresses and actors for our episodes. The characters will
be a new creation, NOT any person you are playing now. This content will
only be available on the show, but will be heavily influenced by current
TFE events, especially on the Galaxy list.
If you are interested, you will need to be able to create MP3 files. A
FREE software program called audible (from
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ ) can help you do that. You will of
course need a microphone, as well. To audition for a part, we need a
sample of your voice. Read the text following this announcement as best
you can, keeping in mind sound quality and background noise.
Then EMAIL your MP3 file to tfepodcast at gmail.com. If you're concerned
about file size, you could UPLOAD it to a FREE file sharing service like
Media Fire (http://www.mediafire.com/ ), and email tfepodcast at gmail.com
a LINK ONLY to that file.
We will let you know we have gotten your file, and if accepted, you will
be emailed the script. If you have questions, please feel free to ask.
Thank you for your time and effort! This will certainly be a great
addition to The First Era Podcast!

SAMPLE TEXT: This sample should be read like it is not being read. We
want to hear how you bring the words to life, as if recounting an old
tale or speaking off the cuff. Also feel free to use any accents you
are capable of (Latin, European, Asian, etc) and different, but still
natural voices. We want to get an idea of the breadth of your voice
acting talent, not just for current roles to be filled, but for other
bit parts and possibly reoccurring roles. You could potentially be
multi-cast for several characters during an episode.
"Call me Ishmael. Some years ago--never mind how long precisely--having
little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on
shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of
the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating
the circulation. Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth;
whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find
myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up
the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get
such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to
prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically
knocking people's hats off--then, I account it high time to get to sea
as soon as I can. This is my substitute for pistol and ball. With a
philosophical flourish Cato throws himself upon his sword; I quietly
take to the ship. There is nothing surprising in this. If they but
knew it, almost all men in their degree, some time or other, cherish
very nearly the same feelings towards the ocean with me.
"But look! here come more crowds, pacing straight for the water, and
seemingly bound for a dive. Strange! Nothing will content them but the
extremest limit of the land; loitering under the shady lee of yonder
warehouses will not suffice. No. They must get just as nigh the water
as they possibly can without falling in. And there they stand--miles of
them--leagues. Inlanders all, they come from lanes and alleys, streets
and avenues--north, east, south, and west. Yet here they all unite.
Tell me, does the magnetic virtue of the needles of the compasses of all
those ships attract them thither?"
