Hello again fellow TFE enthusiasts!

First I want to say how glad I am to be a part of TFE. Always have
been. Time and time again everyone I’ve encountered in this group has
been a lot of fun to SIM with, and overall a top-notch /person/. We’ve
got writers of all kinds: drama, action, romance, technical, and
everything in-between. I enjoy reading my fellow player’s posts as much
as I do writing my own, and I relish the chance for a good joint log.

I think the above comes from taking a good look at the two SIMs I’m
currently writing with. Both are filled with talented, creative people,
whom are more than happy to share that creativity and talent. But along
with the aforementioned qualities, /dedication/ comes to mind as well.
Players have come and gone, but the core group will always be there to
share a joint log and show a new side of their character. I’ve been
part of other SIMs over the years, but TFE has spoiled me and there’s
just no comparison.

But maybe I’m biased...

At any rate, I want to mention the relaunch of Intrepid a moment. Suzy
had to step down just before the new year, and I stepped up as Acting CO
in the interim until we can find a new CO. The Command Staff has
discussed several prospects, and have a few strong and deserving
candidates in mind. That said, the SIM itself is holding up quite well.
Five active players and one recruit in the Academy means that when the
revised Command Team settles in, Intrepid will be strong and stable, and
remain a valuable addition to TFE.

Speaking of the Academy, Josh (our Commandant) informed me that they’re
planning to revive the Advanced Courses. For those who want to brush up
on their writing skills and be able to give a little more regarding
their department, these will be invaluable. A treatment for Medical has
already been submitted, and Engineering should be following close
behind. We’re penciled-in for summer, but with an all-volunteer staff
any dates can only be considered tentative. So keep an eye out, and if
you’re interested in becoming an instructor or helping out in other
ways, you can contact our Commandant at: tfe.acad.cmdt at gmail.com

Switching to IC matters, the fleet metaplot is still carrying through
the Earth-Romulan War. The armistice is holding, but the cold war that
ensues only proves that hostilities are not truly over. Starfleet
Intelligence Service has become a larger player in the background, and
plans have been laid out to utilize the fragmented Naussicaan clans to
our advantage, if only to prevent them from becoming Romulan lackeys
again. A portion of Starfleet attempts to get back to exploring, while
the rest prepares for further conflict.

And speaking of fleet storylines, expect greater usage of the Galaxy
list starting in the near future. Not only will the list follow a
unifying IC storyline, but it will also be used as a recruiting tool.
The idea is for it to be a central reference for TFE in an IC capacity,
giving prospective applicants a glimpse of not only the group, but each
SIM as well. The details are still being worked out, but individual
SIMs will hopefully have as much traffic as anything at the fleet level.
If you've ever been interested in what the other SIMs were up to, this
will be the place to watch.

And now I have a few personnel announcements to make:

• As Lieutenant Commander Kjell Lindstrom, Josh has been our Academy
Commandant for quite a while now. It’s only fitting that he receive a
promotion, and one that’s more befitting his position /as/ Commandant.
Therefore, for ample time in grade and performing duties /well/ above
his rank, Lieutenant Commander Lindstrom is hereby promoted directly to
Captain with all rights and privileges therein.

• As Fleet Captain Douglass Michaels, Rachelle has been serving as Fleet
Operations Commander. She has performed admirably and been an asset to
TFE. At this time I hereby confirm Fleet Captain Michaels’ appointment
as Fleet Operations Commander, and promote Michaels to Commodore.

The Michael Thompson Memorial Award is given quarterly for “outstanding
contribution and achievement”. For third quarter 2009, the Thompson
goes to:

Josh for his dedication and success both IC and OOC. As Commandant
Lindstrom, Josh has kept our Academy flowing along, taking care of our
applicants and recruits and doing a little recruiting as well, in
addition to keeping an eye on /enhancing/ as well as maintaining (see
Advanced Courses, above). As Commander Wang he has taken the role of
Meridian’s XO, and as CPO Dinaa he has been appointed the Senior
Enlisted Advisor (equivalent to Chief of the Boat) on New Darwin,
assisting each SIM in numerous ways. He has also been instrumental in
helping to develop the Daliwakan people on New Darwin. As one of his
COs said, “Josh is just terrific at anything he puts his mind to.”
We’re glad to have him a part of TFE.

For fourth quarter 2009, the Thompson goes to:

Stephen, player of Lt(jg) Stile Corbett, Chief Medical Officer,
Meridian. As a new member of TFE, Stephen has hit the ground running.
On Meridian he has been favorably mentioned of several times by several
players, and his CO said of him, “He always goes the extra mile for the
SIM.” Stephen is also the author of the Advanced Medical Course
treatment for the Academy, a thick file that has been called both
“fantastic” and “beyond brilliant”. At this point, we have no choice
but to expect great things from him.

And that concludes this Fleet Address. Thank you all for all you do!
