Greetings,
As a Senior Fleet Advisor, I am still around and sort of active. And
seeing this fleet address, I just want to take a moment to say a few words
as well.
Mainly to Rob, and I want each of our members to hear what I have to say,
because he has earned this.
Rob, you have done a fantastic job since taking over as Fleet Commander.
As CO on Forrest and the way you keep carrying the torch after I burned
out. I may not be very active in TFE, but I am keeping an eye on things
because I will never stop caring about this group.
You are an example and an inspiration, when I read your logs I want to
start logging again, and only don't because I know I can not be consistent
with it. You strive for excellence and do everything I would expect of a
CO and Fleet CO.
With that said, I am taking the liberty of creating a new Award for
exceptional contributions to TFE. The L.H. Hawke Medal of Exceptional
Excellence.
For setting that best example, for going above and beyond the call of
duty, to be inspirational and a great story teller that sets and exceeds
their own high expectations and contributes to TFE as a whole for a period
of several years. Who strives to help the SIMs and SIMmers and COs with
those same qualities and in the process makes TFE a fun and great place to
SIM. This is a rare award to be handed out, but those that do receive it
are the cream of the crop of TFE, considered honorary members.
For the oldies in TFE, they may remember Capt Hawke, the creator of the
Yorktown and instrumental to the start and the foundation of TFE. He has
not been active in many years here, but his influence is still visible in
that he trained some of our key people in TFE who passed their experience
and knowledge on as well. His strive for excellence and quality early on
is what has made TFE what it is and what we hold high, and helped it live
for the 9 years that we are around now.
I can't think of a more appropriate person to give the first L.H. Hawke
Medal for Exceptional Excellence to, since you, Rob, embody all the same
qualities that Hawke was always focussed on and inspired in other people,
like you do. And I am proud and honoured to have served with you and to be
an advisor to you.
I am also hereby promoting Thomas Garroway to the rank of Admiral, since
you are the Commander of Starfleet and it is appropriate as well as more
than earned.
Suzanna
Adm Suzanna Batenburg

Everything fits, otherwise we'll make it fit!
> Hello again fellow TFE enthusiasts!
>
> First I want to say how glad I am to be a part of TFE. Always have
> been. Time and time again everyone Ive encountered in this group has
> been a lot of fun to SIM with, and overall a top-notch /person/. Weve
> got writers of all kinds: drama, action, romance, technical, and
> everything in-between. I enjoy reading my fellow players posts as much
> as I do writing my own, and I relish the chance for a good joint log.
>
> I think the above comes from taking a good look at the two SIMs Im
> currently writing with. Both are filled with talented, creative people,
> whom are more than happy to share that creativity and talent. But along
> with the aforementioned qualities, /dedication/ comes to mind as well.
> Players have come and gone, but the core group will always be there to
> share a joint log and show a new side of their character. Ive been
> part of other SIMs over the years, but TFE has spoiled me and theres
> just no comparison.
>
> But maybe Im biased...
>
> At any rate, I want to mention the relaunch of Intrepid a moment. Suzy
> had to step down just before the new year, and I stepped up as Acting CO
> in the interim until we can find a new CO. The Command Staff has
> discussed several prospects, and have a few strong and deserving
> candidates in mind. That said, the SIM itself is holding up quite well.
> Five active players and one recruit in the Academy means that when the
> revised Command Team settles in, Intrepid will be strong and stable, and
> remain a valuable addition to TFE.
>
> Speaking of the Academy, Josh (our Commandant) informed me that theyre
> planning to revive the Advanced Courses. For those who want to brush up
> on their writing skills and be able to give a little more regarding
> their department, these will be invaluable. A treatment for Medical has
> already been submitted, and Engineering should be following close
> behind. Were penciled-in for summer, but with an all-volunteer staff
> any dates can only be considered tentative. So keep an eye out, and if
> youre interested in becoming an instructor or helping out in other
> ways, you can contact our Commandant at: tfe.acad.cmdt at gmail.com
>
> Switching to IC matters, the fleet metaplot is still carrying through
> the Earth-Romulan War. The armistice is holding, but the cold war that
> ensues only proves that hostilities are not truly over. Starfleet
> Intelligence Service has become a larger player in the background, and
> plans have been laid out to utilize the fragmented Naussicaan clans to
> our advantage, if only to prevent them from becoming Romulan lackeys
> again. A portion of Starfleet attempts to get back to exploring, while
> the rest prepares for further conflict.
>
> And speaking of fleet storylines, expect greater usage of the Galaxy
> list starting in the near future. Not only will the list follow a
> unifying IC storyline, but it will also be used as a recruiting tool.
> The idea is for it to be a central reference for TFE in an IC capacity,
> giving prospective applicants a glimpse of not only the group, but each
> SIM as well. The details are still being worked out, but individual
> SIMs will hopefully have as much traffic as anything at the fleet level.
> If you've ever been interested in what the other SIMs were up to, this
> will be the place to watch.
>
> And now I have a few personnel announcements to make:
>
> As Lieutenant Commander Kjell Lindstrom, Josh has been our Academy
> Commandant for quite a while now. Its only fitting that he receive a
> promotion, and one thats more befitting his position /as/ Commandant.
> Therefore, for ample time in grade and performing duties /well/ above
> his rank, Lieutenant Commander Lindstrom is hereby promoted directly to
> Captain with all rights and privileges therein.
>
> As Fleet Captain Douglass Michaels, Rachelle has been serving as Fleet
> Operations Commander. She has performed admirably and been an asset to
> TFE. At this time I hereby confirm Fleet Captain Michaels appointment
> as Fleet Operations Commander, and promote Michaels to Commodore.
>
> The Michael Thompson Memorial Award is given quarterly for outstanding
> contribution and achievement. For third quarter 2009, the Thompson
> goes to:
>
> Josh for his dedication and success both IC and OOC. As Commandant
> Lindstrom, Josh has kept our Academy flowing along, taking care of our
> applicants and recruits and doing a little recruiting as well, in
> addition to keeping an eye on /enhancing/ as well as maintaining (see
> Advanced Courses, above). As Commander Wang he has taken the role of
> Meridians XO, and as CPO Dinaa he has been appointed the Senior
> Enlisted Advisor (equivalent to Chief of the Boat) on New Darwin,
> assisting each SIM in numerous ways. He has also been instrumental in
> helping to develop the Daliwakan people on New Darwin. As one of his
> COs said, Josh is just terrific at anything he puts his mind to.
> Were glad to have him a part of TFE.
>
> For fourth quarter 2009, the Thompson goes to:
>
> Stephen, player of Lt(jg) Stile Corbett, Chief Medical Officer,
> Meridian. As a new member of TFE, Stephen has hit the ground running.
> On Meridian he has been favorably mentioned of several times by several
> players, and his CO said of him, He always goes the extra mile for the
> SIM. Stephen is also the author of the Advanced Medical Course
> treatment for the Academy, a thick file that has been called both
> fantastic and beyond brilliant. At this point, we have no choice
> but to expect great things from him.
>
> And that concludes this Fleet Address. Thank you all for all you do!
>
>
> -----
> Robert
> as
> VAdm Garroway, Thomas R.
> Starfleet Commander
