It is with pleasure and humility that I accept the position of Fleet Commander for Starfleet: The First Era. This is an amazing SIM organization, exemplifying the highest creative ideals of Star Trek. <BR>
<BR>
My first duty as Fleet Commander is to offer thanks to Robert – Admiral Thomas Garroway and Capt Nathan Thompson – for his confidence in me over the past years, for his invaluable mentoring, and his friendship. <BR>
<BR>
In light of his amazing service to TFE and Forrest Outpost, which he Captain’d for 5 years, I am honored to present to Robert the Captain Michael Thompson Memorial Award. This medal is awarded for outstanding contribution and achievement on an Out-Of-Character basis, which reflects the highest values of Star Trek, TFE and role-play. It is named as a memorial for Michael West, player behind Captain Michael Thompson, former CO of the NX-05 Yorktown. In-Character, Michael Thompson was the brother to Robert’s character, Capt Nathan Thompson, former CO of Forrest Outpost. No one deserves this prestigious award more than Robert. <BR>
<BR>
In addition, for his In-Character service to the entire TFE organization, in the role of Admiral Thomas R Garroway, Fleet Commander, it gives me great pleasure to place in his hands, the Legion of Merit, Earth's highest achievement award and given to any in character service member of Starfleet who distinguishes himself or herself by meritorious non-combat achievement or service above and beyond the call of duty. This certainly applies to Admiral Garroway. Thank you, Sir, for your unselfish commitment to the Fleet. <BR>

I’d like the extend thanks to Suzanna Batenburg (aka Suzy) for agreeing to step in as my Fleet Advisor for the time being, as I learn the ropes for this new position. Suzy has served TFE in many capacities over many years, including Fleet Commander. Thank you Suzy for your continued commitment and service. <BR>
<BR>
For my part, as your new Fleet Commander, I want to say I see this not as a position of high rank, in spite of its lofty title. Following in the tradition of those before me, I see it as a position of service to this fine organization, to facilitate the structure upon which Yorktown, Meridian, Forrest Outpost, and New Darwin Colony depend. I am at your service to help make this the best RPG experience it can be for every officer and crewman in the Fleet. Do not ever hesitate to contact me with feedback, complaints, suggestions or questions. My “door” is always open. Thank you for the opportunity and I will do all in my power to be an effective and honorable Commander for the Fleet. <BR>
