"Glorious," the helmsman said to his companion standing next to him at
tactical.  "Glorious."

The other two men nodded their heads at his pronouncement, keeping their
eyes on their monitor scopes as the debris began to reenter the Oomah
Lootmah atmosphere.  All were amazed at how easily the Klingon ship was
dispatched in their surprise attack.  The Klingon escort vessel in formation
was destroyed even faster.

"Scan for other vessels," Commander Galan ordered his bridge crew.  He
certainly did not want them to become distracted by their easy victories in
orbit around the planet.  "Withdraw out to the inner moon."  Standard
Romulan procedure, he thought to himself.  Stalk, attack, withdraw to
monitor for others.

One officer's head popped up towards the ship's captain.  "Negative
indications of other ships, commander.  I am receiving transmissions from
the surface in the Klingon language.  Sending it down to intelligence for
translation and analysis."  The crew below decks would report on any useful
information.

Galan paced across the cramped bridge area.  The Klingons had obviously
dispatched a landing party to the surface of the planet.  Two ships their
size could mean a sizable contingent loose at the human colony.  His ship
was a scout, with a limited ability to put armed soldiers on the surface.
Their sister ship was assumed to be still in route and under communications
silence.  They had no choice but to gather as much intelligence as possible
before their rendezvous.

"Change to orders.  Maintain cloak and move to the upper atmosphere into a
parallel orbit over the colony.  Ensure there is no detection capability
operational at the colony before we move too close.  They may have defense
systems that our scout team did not detect."

Moving slowly, the Romulan ship shimmered across the intervening space
towards the lush, green planet.
