size=2 face=Arial>~~Meridian Bridge~~<BR><BR>Rog sat in the captain's going
over some reports given to him by his new Yeoman, PO Gomez. So far, she'd
worked out fine, though the battle ahead would be her real test. Just as he
signed off on the last report, Baxter piped up.<BR><BR>Baxter said, "Sir, I'm
hearing some chatter." A few moments went by and he continued, "Sir, it's
Vulcan. Now I'm getting a signal from Challenger. Capt. Spearling's
compliments. The Vulcan ship 'Whispering Death', will be joining the fleet and
taking up position off our right wing." Almost the instant he said it, a
Suurok Class ship appeared and took station off their starboard nacelle. "Sir,
there'll be a total of six Suurok Class ships with us and more reinforcements
if needed."<BR><BR>Rog slapped the arm of his chair and said, "Excellent! What
great news! Andre, be prepared to take a pod out as a scout craft." Now we'll
show those Rommie bastards who's boss.<BR><BR><BR>~~ about an hour later
~~<BR><BR><BR>The turbolift doors swished open and Yue stepped onto the
command deck. She approached Rog's chair, looking ahead at the viewscreen
where everyone else was keeping an eye on the approaching nebula. It was
eerily beautiful, and probably would have had them all excited as explorers if
it weren't for the knowledge that the enemy was sitting on the other side of
it.<BR><BR>"Battle readiness one hundred percent," Yue reported softly as she
stood next to Rog.<BR><BR>He glanced up and nodded. "Thank you, Yue. We should
be there any second now."<BR><BR>"Phased probe signal has been reflected,
Captain," Tren's voice chimed suddenly. "We have arrived at the rendezvous
point."<BR><BR>Rog said, "Andre, take us out of warp...slowly. Get us to full
impulse."<BR><BR>Andre replied, "Aye sir." He slowed the Meridian to a
crawl.<BR><BR>"Baxter, send the password." The coalition ships had all been
given a password that it was agreed they would issue to any ship they found
upon arriving at the rendezvous point. Friendly ships were to respond with an
answering passcode that indicated their allied status.<BR><BR>"Passcode
acknowledged and confirmed." Baxter chuckled and said, "Sir, the pigs are
here, at least one ship. They send their 'compliments' and wonder, quote,
'What the hell took us so long?' unquote."<BR><BR>Rog laughed. "I bet they
did. Tell them we're ready to rendezvous and don't keep us waiting out here.
Tell Challenger we've confirmed the contact. Morse code." He then turned his
focus forward to the helm. "Andre, follow that ship." <BR><BR>Rog sat
expectantly. As they went in, their long range sensors went dead, as expected.
Rog said, "Jonas, tactical alert till I say otherwise."<BR><BR>Jonas nodded
and replied, "Aye sir."<BR><BR>"Challenger says you're to go over for a CO
meeting in two hours in their shuttle hanger." Baxter reported.<BR><BR>Rog
nodded and said, "Very well. My compliments to Capt. Spearling. Inform her
that I'll be there." He looked over to Yue, who was now sitting at the
engineering console. "Yue, you have the conn." He then went to go freshen up
and get ready for the meeting.<BR><BR><BR>~~ several minutes later
~~<BR><BR><BR>A small fleet sat hidden in the ionized mists of the Coalsack
nebula. Much to Yue's surprise, there were just about as many ships from each
of the other coalition races as the humans had sent. Even the Denobulans were
contributing a half dozen security vessels to the effort. <BR><BR>Unlike
Jupiter's Ghost, this battle was not going to be a human only
affair.<BR><BR><BR>~ ~ ~ ~<BR><BR>Cpt Roger
